Kean University rips off Boston University
Seriously. Seriously?
I have a number of years of experience working in higher-ed marketing…specifically, web design and development. I know, first hand, how congenial the community is. Everyone is more than happy to work together and create positive experiences for prospective and current students.
And creating that positive experience takes a lot of hard work! So it makes me nuts when I see higher ed institutions being lazy and blatantly ripping-off another person’s work.
Not to mention any names (Kean University) but your homepage header? Yeah, the one with the sliding bars? Boston University did it so long ago that they’ve since gone through another redesign. Oh, and BU’s was better, too.
And, let’s take a look at Kean’s “Academics” page. It’s an EXACT COPY of Boston University’s template. Check it out here.
And now I’m hearing that Kean’s redesign was done by an outside agency. Really? REALLY? If it was done by an in-house team that doesn’t specialize in web, or was under pressure from Administration to just get something up…I could maybe understand. But the fact that an agency CHARGED MONEY for this? Unthinkable. They should be ashamed.
I know Kean has been having some major troubles lately but this is ridiculous.
